RP Blu Girls fall to Canada in Women's Softball World Cup campaign opener

The Philippine national women's softball team, more popularly known as the RP Blu Girls, fell to Canada, 5-0, in their opening game in the group stage of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup on late Saturday (Philippine time) in Italy.

The Philippines is pooled with Group C, along with Canada, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, and Venezuela.

The top two teams will advance to the Group C finals, while the teams which finish third and fourth will advance to the third place playoff. The loser of the finals and the winner of the playoff will face each other in the repechage.

The team which will rule Group C and the winner of the repechage will advance to the final round of the World Cup in 2024 in Italy.

The Philippines will go against Japan next in the group stage on Sunday night (Philippine time).
