PBA: Terrafirma ends 3-game skid, stuns TNT in OT

Terrafirma snapped its three-game losing streak with a 111-106 overtime victory over TNT in the PBA Governors' Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Dyip appeared headed for a comfortable win after building an 18-point lead, 56-38, early in the third quarter. However, the Tropang 5G clawed their way back and erased a six-point deficit in the closing minute of regulation.

Holding a 94-88 advantage with 1:05 remaining, Terrafirma watched TNT unleash a 6-0 run, capped by Jordan Heading's game-tying basket. Mav Ahanmisi missed a potential game-winning four-point attempt, sending the contest into overtime.

TNT seized a 106-101 lead early in the extra period, but Terrafirma responded with three straight three-pointers from Juami Tiongson, Joseph Eriobu, and Ahanmisi to regain control. After TNT import Darius Days missed on the other end, Sean Quitevis fouled Tiongson, who split his free throws to extend the lead. Rey Nambatac's final four-point attempt missed, sealing the Dyip's victory.

"Siguro kulang lang 'yung effort noong last three losses. Sabi ko nga, hinihintay pa ng team na matambakan bago makahabol pero every day in practice, sinasabi namin na kaya naman natin eh as long as we always play our A-game. Same thing lang what happened ngayon, almost lamang kami. Kailangan lang maalala ng players na kaya naman. If we keep on competing, may chance naman manalo," said Terrafirma head coach Ronald Tubid.

Justin Strings led the Dyip with 36 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block. Tiongson added 24 points behind five three-pointers, while Ahanmisi contributed 20.

Heading paced TNT with 29 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal. RR Pogoy scored 23 points, Nambatac added 19, Kim Aurin chipped in 18, while import Darius Days finished with 10 points.

Terrafirma improved to 2-3 in the standings, while TNT dropped to 1-2.
