RP film wins award in Mexico filmfest
A Philippine film won an award in a recent children's film festival in Mexico City, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Francisco Ortigas III reported that "Inang Yaya" won an Honorable Mention Award in the 14th International Film Festival for Children Aug. 11 to 16. âThe direction and the acting made it a touching movie. They put values and feelings; fear, love, friendship and solidarity and it has a beautiful message of friendship: you do not have to judge children by their social and economic status," the four-member panel of judges composed of children aged 10 to 13 said, according to an article on the DFA website (www.dfa.gov.ph). The film featured Maricel Soriano, and was directed by Pablo Biglang-Awa Jr. and Veronica Velasco. Norma Betancourt, coordinator of the judges, said the film earned very good commendations from moviegoers who submitted their evaluation and assessment of the work. The film placed second in the evaluation of the children and placed third in the evaluation of the adults, the DFA said. The film has an English subtitle and is also dubbed in Spanish. - GMANews.TV
