The Philippine embassy in Doha has been coordinating with Qatari authorities on the investigation of the death of Melissa Leseniana, a 24-year-old household worker who was found dead on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday. Charge d’affaires Rosario P. Lemque reported to the DFA that she sent officers of the Assistance-to-Nationals unit to the Hamad Hospital morgue to take a look at Leseniana’s body on the same day report of her death reached the embassy. She said morgue authorities did not allow the embassy officers to take photographs of the Filipino woman while the case is under investigation. However, Lemque said the embassy officers managed to secure Leseniana’s passport and other personal belongings from the police station with jurisdiction to the case. She said Leseniana’s employer has been placed in police custody for investigation. Earlier reports from Qatar said Leseniana, who supposedly hailed from Albay in the Bicol region, had bruises and marks of strangulation. - GMANews.TV
