Presidential bets make final push in miting de avance in Metro Manila


The five candidates in the May 9 presidential election made their final push on Saturday, holding simultaneous miting de avance in vote-rich Metro Manila.

Vice President Jejomar Binay returned to Makati City, where his supporters converged wearing blue shirts that read "Genuine Follower."

Celebrities Pilita Corales and Monsur del Rosario, the latter running a campaign to represent the first district of Makati in Congress, were spotted by GMA News Online's Amita Legaspi.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's supporters braved the warm weather at Rizal Park in Manila City. A few people were ushered to seats and monitored for possible heat exhaustion.

Celebrities populated the stage at Plaza Miranda for Senator Grace Poe's miting de avance. The evening's program is hosted by Allan K, Carmina Villaroel, Giselle Sanchez, Ruby Rodriguez, and Epy Quizon and began with the song "Bagong Umaga."

Poe's husband Neil Llamanzares and adoptive mother Susan Roces were also in attendance.

Noel Cabangon, who campaigned for President Benigno Aquino III in 2010, was singing for Liberal Party bet Mar Roxas at his Miting de Avance at the Quezon Memorial Circle, shown via a Tweet by @roxasrobredo.

GMA News Online's Kaecee Alvarez shared a photo of Roxas' supporters, proudly wearing their candidate's color.

Choosing a more lively event, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago's camp will be hold a street party at West Triangle, Quezon City.

 

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority had earlier advised motorist to prepare for heavy traffic because of the simultaneous gatherings.

There are a total of 6,253,249 voters in Metro Manila who are registered for the May 9 elections. —AT/ALG, GMA News
