A "conscience-stricken" plumber-welder tried to kill himself after brutally murdering a Filipino seamstress in Hofuf in Saudi Arabia. Online news site Arab News reported that Philippine labor attaché David Des Dicang identified the suspect as Eric Quizon, who works for Rezayat Company Ltd. Quizon allegedly stabbed dead victim Maria Jacobo, 49, set a house on fire, then fled from the crime scene in Hofuf's Al Hasa district. Jacobo, a native of Isabela province, was burned beyond recognition. "She was going to kill me so I had to kill him," the report, quoting Quizon, said when interviewed at the hospital. Quizon was rushed to the King Fahd Hospital Hofuf from jail after an apparent suicide attempt. Nurses said that when they asked him why he tried to kill himself, he claimed, "I had killed somebody." Witnesses at the hospital said Quizon bore abrasions and contusions, signs that he had been in a struggle. Earlier, Quizon's co-worker Nestor Infante said Quizon immediately confessed to the crime after being cornered by police. "His hands and shirt was still stained with blood and he was acting as if he was looking for something when police arrived to arrest him," Infante said. - GMANews.TV
