Missing case folders of erring police have been found —PNP
The missing case folders of cops who are under investigation in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have been found, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.
“Nahanap na po iyong mga cases na po ito. Katulad ng sinabi ko, clinarify po nila na as of now wala pong nawawalang case folder,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing.
(These cases were already found. Like what I said, the NCRPO has clarified that there is no missing case folder as of now.)
NCRPO chief Police Major General Melencio Nartatez Jr. earlier revealed that the case folders of several police officers under probe for administrative cases went missing.
"Hindi lang nawawala, nadi-delay or tinutulugan. Imbes na for dismissal siya is maging suspension lang in cahoots and/or connivance with the drafter ng isang resolution and or nag conduct ng summary dismissal proceedings," Nartatez said.
(There may be connivance between police personnel. We saw that in some cases, the penalty was downgraded from dismissal to suspension. This may be due to the resolution drafter or the conductor of summary dismissal proceedings being in cahoots with them.)
They are also investigating the incident, including the persons involved and the possible connivance of police personnel.
On Monday, PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. ordered other regional units to review their records.
"I am encouraging all other regions to review and check under system or in their records kung may similar incidents," PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said in a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday.
"We are assuming mayroon din sa ibang region (there are similar incidents in other regions)," he added.
Acorda said the incident in the NCRPO is "alarming" as integrity enhancement, including cleansing and imposing appropriate penalty, is part of PNP's five focus agenda.
"Definitely, alarming iyon because part of our focus agenda is integrity enhancement and kasama diyan ang cleansing natin and imposing the right penalty. If there are things that affect No.3 item natin sa five focus agenda, we will give special attention to that," he said.
