TESDA pushes training centers to offer programs for content creators

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said it has developed competency standards on content creation, which its training centers can use as a basis for programs to offer students.

In a statement, TESDA said the competency standards were developed with the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas Inc. (KBP), and aims to teach skills needed to produce and distribute content on social media.

The core competencies are said to include crafting concepts for social media posting, creating content for such concept and how to share such content.

“Many of our kababayans are very talented and resourceful, and I am confident that if given the right skills, they will be better positioned to create content that resonate better with their audience, foster meaningful connections, and ultimately contribute significantly to society,” TESDA secretary Suharto Mangudadatu said.

Mangudadatu said the program will also cater to the need for “quality training” which will push more Filipinos to go into content creation, and teach students how to improve the quality of the content they upload across platforms.

“Virtual networks and communities have enabled us to connect with our audience, build awareness, and strengthen engagement,” Mangudadatu said.

“However, the effectiveness of our efforts relies heavily on the quality and relevance of the content we share. In light of this, our content creators must be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce compelling and engaging content,” he added.

Under its mandate, TESDA is tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development. This integrates the functions of the former National Manpower and Youth Council, the Bureau of Technical-Vocational Education of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and the Office of Apprenticeship of the Department of Labor and Employment.—RF, GMA Integrated News
