Bonoan on flood control projects: We've already discovered something
Former Public Works and Highways secretary Manuel Bonoan said Monday they have already discovered something about the questionable flood control projects as he explained that his resignation was due to lingering clamor.
In an interview with GMA's Ian Cruz after attending the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing, Bonoan said that he will hand over the documents to newly-designated DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.
"Meron na rin kaming natutuklasan (We've already discovered something) but I think I will leave it to Secretary Vince. I'll transfer the documents to Sec. Vince Dizon anytime na makapag-usap na kami (we have a chance to talk)," he said in the interview aired over Balitanghali.
Bonoan added that he wanted President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr to have a free hand to pursue the institutional reforms that he wants to implement.
"It's been a lingering clamor and I think for accountability and to give the President a fresh start...'yung ma-pursue lahat ng (to pursue all the) institutional reforms that he would like to do, I think it would be better for somebody else to take over," he said.
Earlier in the day, Marcos said he accepted Bonoan's resignation due to command responsibility.
The President had disclosed that 20% of the total P545 billion budget of flood control projects was awarded to only 15 contractors, five of which have projects in almost all regions nationwide. —AOL/KG, GMA Integrated News
