A man died after falling from an SUV he was hanging on to, after the driver sped away, apparently instead of paying for the phone the victim was selling.

In a 24 Oras report from Mark Salazar on Wednesday, dashcam footage revealed a man holding on to the side of a vehicle on EDSA southbound in the Ortigas area. The man fell from his perch, but the SUV did not stop.

The man who fell was 23-year-old Mohammad Sheikdugar.

“Pagdating ko sa emergency room, sina-suction na ang pasyente kasi bleeding, hemorrhage, kinabukasan na-coma na hindi na makapagsalita,” said Sheikdugar’s mother, Muslima Sarib Sheikdugar.

(When I got to the emergency room, they were suctioning him because there was bleeding, hemorrhage. The next day, he was in a coma, he could not speak.)

Mohammad Sheikdugar died on Tuesday. It is not known yet who the driver of the SUV is but the victim’s mother said that the person was a scammer who pretended they were going to buy Mohammad's phone.

According to his mother, Mohammad was with his girlfriend Donalyn when they met with the buyer at a fast food restaurant in Greenhills.

When they met, the supposed buyer said that he could not find parking, and told Mohammad to get in the vehicle. The man reportedly said a lot of things to confuse the seller until he got the cellphone.

The buyer promised to pay at the bank. When they got to the bank, the buyer told Donalyn to go down and get rid of something blocking the parking. However, even then, the driver would not park.

This is when the pair got suspicious.

At that point, Mohammad told Donalyn to get the cellphone. The buyer refused to give up the phone, saying that he had a gun.

Mohammad went down to try to block the vehicle, but it instead backed away. He then hung on to the side of the SUV as it sped off. Donalyn was left behind.

From Greenhills, Mohammad kept hold until he fell in Ortigas.

The dashcam footage was not able to get a clear view of the SUV’s license plate. It was the only video that the family had.
