Red Cross: 104 Nazarene devotees treated so far

At least 104 devotees of the Black Nazarene had received medical treatment while taking part in the yearly procession in honor of their patron Monday.
 
The Philippine Red Cross said that as of noon, 104 devotees had been served.
 
It said that at least 30 devotees with minor injuries were treated and 56 devotees also had their blood pressure taken.
 
"Minor cases vary from wound injuries, exhaustion, dehydration to blood pressure taking," it said.
 
The Red Cross also transported seven devotees to Ospital ng Maynila and Philippine General Hospital (PGH). Six devotees were brought to the hospital due to dizziness, difficulty of breathing and chest pain.
 
Meanwhile, one devotee was brought to the hospital due to possible elbow dislocation while one pregnant woman was transported to Ospital ng Maynila due to dizziness.
 
A total of 350 PRC staff and volunteers with 19 ambulances were deployed in different areas in Metro Manila to render first aid to injured patients at the Feast of Black Nazarene.
 
Red Cross teams have been stationed along the route of the procession to attend to devotees.
 
Earlier Monday, several devotees had suffered body pains, while some lost consciousness as the procession slowed down. — RSJ/KG, GMA News
