A jailbreak at the Navotas City Jail earlier this week has led to the 90-day suspension of the warden along with possible charges against him and two jail officials.
This developed as authorities recaptured two of at least five inmates who managed to escape last Monday, radio dzBB reported Thursday.
Now facing administrative charges for serious neglect of duty are warden Senior Inspector Manuel Serquina and at least two of his men on duty.
Serquina was also suspended for 90 days, the report said.
Replacing him as warden was Chief Inspector Glennford Valdepeñas.
As this developed, authorities continued to track down three of the escaped inmates identified as Mark Anthony Austria, Lito Labongray, and Narciso Dicipulo.
Two other inmates, Daryl Salvador and Alex Alejandro, were recaptured.
Investigation showed the five inmates escaped by sawing off a metal screw and wooden beam holding the metal roof above the ceiling. –KG, GMA News
