Suspected 'salvage' victim found in Manila
Police are investigating the death of a man believed to be a "salvage" (summary execution) victim whose body was found in Manila before dawn Saturday. The body was dumped at the corner of Agoncillo and Remedios Streets in Manila's Malate district, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported. Manila Police District homicide investigators said the body had a tattoo indicating the victim was a member of the notorious "Sputnik" gang. Investigators described the victim as in his 40s, 5'7" tall, medium-built, and wearing light-blue shorts and shirt. His head was wrapped in masking tape and his mouth was gagged. Police also found signs the victim was strangled. An initial investigation showed the victim's body was stuffed inside a garbage bag and dumped in the area. — LBG, GMA News
