Valenzuela, San Pablo suspend July 23 classes via Twitter amid rain forecast


Amid forecasts of rain in parts of Luzon for the next 24 hours, local government units in Metro Manila and Laguna on Sunday evening suspended Monday classes.
 
"San Pablo City Laguna: No classes in all levels tomorrow, declared by Mayor Amante," the Department of Education said on its Twitter account.
 
In Metro Manila, Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian declared the cancellation of Monday classes from daycare to high school. Gatchalian made the announcement on his personal Twitter account.
 
When asked if this covered the entire city, he said, "yes po. This is city wide."
 
Earlier, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon may bring rain to Luzon.
 
Its 5 p.m. bulletin said rain may become frequent over the western section of Luzon, "which may trigger flash floods and landslides." — DVM, GMA News
