1 killed in bus-motorcycle accident in Makati; bus driver surrenders

A motorcycle rider was killed while his wife was in shock after they figured in an accident with a passenger bus in Makati City early Sunday. Marvin Apura, 27, died while his passenger Myra Apura was in shock, according to a report by radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz. The driver of the Don Mariano bus (TVX-515), who fled after the incident in the Magallanes area in Makati, yielded after a few hours, according to an updated report by dzBB's Sam Nielsen. Driver Nemesio Magan, 32, faces possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, the report added. An initial investigation showed the incident occurred at 6:43 a.m., when the bus hit the motorcycle (5163-TR). Sunday's incident was the latest in a series of accidents involving buses. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said a 15-year-old was killed in an accident involving a jeep and a motorcycle in Rodriguez town in Rizal before dawn Saturday. In its Sunday report, the NDRRMC said the motorcycle with three backriders was about to turn left when it hit the left side of the jeep driven by Daniel Gilbert, 38.
