As the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City continued to overflow, the Tullahan River has started to overflow as well, state weather forecasters said early Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration also said La Mesa Dam's water level rose further due to continued heavy rain.

"Residents of Fairview, Quezon City (reported the) Tullahan River overflow(ed) at 5 a.m. today," PAGASA's Flood Forecasting and Warning Section said on its Twitter account.

A separate report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus said the La Mesa Dam's water level as of 5:34 a.m. was at 80.41 meters, above the 80.15-meter spilling level.

Earlier, residents near the Tullahan River started to evacuate to higher ground as La Mesa Dam overflowed.

The report added PAGASA expects La Mesa Dam's water levels to continue rising amid the heavy rain.

Meanwhile, PAGASA hydrologist Elmer Caringal said three major dams in Luzon continued to release excess water.

Caringal said these included Ambuklao (two gates), Binga (three gates), and San Roque (two gates). — RSJ, GMA News
