The effects of last week's heavy rain and floods continued to be felt Tuesday, with prices of many vegetables continuing to go up.
In Pasig City, vendors cited transportation costs as the reason for the high prices of vegetables, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
Many roads in Northern Luzon had been affected by the heavy rain and floods, even as state weather forecasters warned of more rain over Northern Luzon from tropical storm "Helen."
As of Tuesday morning, Baguio beans were sold at P70 per kilo, up from the previous P50 per kilo, the report said.
"Pechay Baguio" prices went up from P50 per kilo to P60 per kilo, while cauliflower prices went up from between P80 to 100 to P150 to 170.
Lettuce sold for as high as P200 per kilo, while "Pechay Tagalog" from Davao was sold for P100 to P120, up from the previous P60 to P70.
However, prices of carrots went down from P100 to P70 per kilo, though prices of potatoes went up from P50 to P60 per kilo.
The report also said prices of fish, meat and chicken remained relatively stable. Prices of some fish, however, were raised by P5 to p15 per kilo. –KG, GMA News
