The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reminded motorists not to buy or use th eso-called Land Transportation Office (LTO) “100” commemorative plates, lest they risk a P5,000 penalty.
In a post on its Twitter account, the MMDA said the LTO itself had not authorized the issuance or display of such commemorative plates.
“REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC: Do not buy or use these unauthorized LTO 100 Commemorative Plates. P5,000 penalty if you do,” it said.
The tweet contained a link that led to a web page containing an image of the supposed LTO commemorative plate, and a scanned LTO notice.
In the notice, the LTO stressed it has not authorized the issuance and/or display of any LTO 100th founding anniversary commemorative plate.
Because of this, it said the use of such plates will be a violation of an administrative order dated July 28, 1999 which carries a penalty of P5,000.
Also, it urged the public to report the sale, use or display to the LTO at 9219072 or 9219071. — RSJ, GMA News
