Cops arrest 2 suspects in PBA star Ali Peek's shooting

Two suspects in the shooting of a professional basketball player in November 2011 have been arrested and are now detained in Nueva Ecija province.

Both men, suspects in the shooting of Albert Henry "Ali" Peek, are suspected members of the Eliseo Esguerra gun-for-hire group, radio dzBB reported early Monday.

Police identified the two as Pangilinan Valencia a.k.a. Carling Carlos, and Orlando Hernandez, the report said.

Recovered from Hernandez was a handgun without the proper documents and rounds of ammunition.

A separate report on GMA Network's 24 Oras Sunday evening said the two admitted to the shooting but insisted Peek was not their target.

The report said the two claimed they were paid P100,000 for a kill job but Peek's shooting was a case of mistaken identity.

Both men are now detained at the Nueva Ecija provincial police office, the report said.

On Nov. 7 last year, Peek was shot outside a gym in Mandaluyong City.
