1 killed as truck rams house in Valenzuela

One person was reported killed after a 10-wheeler truck went out of control and rammed a sport utility vehicle and a house in Valenzuela City Tuesday night.

 

Police took into custody the driver of the truck following the incident at the corner of Santiago and Lazaro Streets in Canumay West village, radio dzBB reported Wednesday.

 

The fatality was initially identified as John Paul Sarmiento, who was sitting in front of the house that the truck rammed at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, the report said.

 

 

An initial investigation showed the truck driver, initially identified as Abner Ortaliz, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a downward slope.

 

At the time of the incident, the truck was loaded with gravel.

 

The truck rammed an SUV and the house.

 

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property are being readied against Osalis, the report said. — RSJ, GMA News
