Fires raze 20 houses in Mandaluyong, candle factory in Valenzuela

More than 20 families lost their homes after a fire of undetermined origin razed a residential area in Mandaluyong City Thursday night.
 
No one was initially reported injured in the fire that started past 7 p.m. at Barangay Barangka Ibaba and reached the third alarm, radio dzBB reported early Friday.
 
Firefighters had to contend with narrow passageways but managed to place the fire under control past 8 p.m., even as the affected families were brought to the local multi-purpose center.
 
Arson investigators estimated the damage to property at P200,000.
 
Meanwhile, another fire razed a candle factory in Arkong Bato in Valenzuela City, starting at 10:45 p.m. and reaching the fourth alarm before it was put out at 1 a.m.
 
No one was reported injured in the fire even as arson investigators look into what caused it. —KG, GMA News
