Guia Gomez proclaimed mayor of San Juan

(Updated 8:40 a.m.) The San Juan City Board of Canvassers proclaimed incumbent Mayor Guia Gomez as the winner of the 2013 mayoralty race.

Based on official Comelec count, Gomez garnered 33,994 votes.

As of posting time, GMA News Online is still trying to get the votes of Gomez's nearest rival for the post.

Gomez's victory comes with 97.95 percent of the vote counted. The remaining, uncounted percentage comes from two compact flash cards which could not be read and thus the votes wrtten into them could not be recorded. — with A. M. Marzoña/DVM/RSJ, GMA News
