Young dolphin washes ashore in Tondo, dies

Many residents in Manila's Tondo area were saddened after the young dolphin that got washed ashore to the city's Baseco area died early on Friday.

Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is already investigating how the dolphin reached the Baseco area in Tondo from Manila Bay.

BFAR doctors said the initial probe showed that the dolphin was already very weak due to hunger when it reached the shore at Baseco in Tondo.

A necropsy showed its stomach had no content but had several parasites indicating that it had not eaten for days.

Baseco residents said this was the first time they had seen a dolphin get washed ashore in the area. - VVP, GMA News
