At least 63,205 riders availed of the first two hours of free rides on the Light Rail Transit's Lines 1 and 2 for Independence Day, the LRT Authority said Wednesday noon.
LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera said these included 47,716 passengers taking the LRT-1 and 15,489 passengers taking the LRT-2 between 7 and 9 a.m.
"Total of 47,716 passengers of LRT1 and 15,489 passengers of LRT2 availed of free ride from 7:00 to 9:00 AM," Cabrera said on his Twitter account.
The LRT and Metro Rail Transit are offering free rides between 7 and 9 a.m., and 5 and 7 p.m., in celebration of Independence Day.
However, Cabrera reminded passengers that while the rides may be free, security will remain strict at the LRT stations.
"Reminder po, libreng sakay po ngayong umaga 7:00-9:00 ang lahat ng pasahero pero hindi po libre sa security inspection," he said.
