(Updated 9:50 a.m.) Morning classes at the Nangka Elementary School in Marikina City were suspended Tuesday following a bomb threat, a television report said.

“At about 8:30 ng umaga, may isang babae na Mrs. Cruz daw ang pangalan, pumunta sa guard at sinabing may bomba sa paaralan. Tapos naman itong babae, nag-iikot sa barangay... nagsabi [na] may bomba sa paaralan,” Nangka Principal Marciana de Guzman said in an interview over GMA News TV’s News to Go.

According to De Guzman, the reported presence of a bomb in the school alarmed parents, who rushed to the school to fetch their children.

"Edi siyempre yung mga magulang nag-papanic, nagtakbuhan sa loob ng eskwelahan namin, kahit kasulukuyan na tahimik ang mga klase," De Guzman said, which prompted the school to cancel all morning classes.

As of posting time, police were still inspecting the school premises for any hidden explosive.

Meanwhile, De Guzman said afternoon classes in the school may push through if the bomb squad declares the school safe.

"Pwede pang magpaikot ng announcement mamaya, gagamitin ang public address system ng barangay, kung may pasok pa sa hapon," she said.
