Militants take QC gov't to court
Militants on Thursday questioned before the court the Quezon City government's decision to deny them a permit to hold a protest rally for President Benigno Aquino III's State of the Nation Address this coming Monday.
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan secretary general Renato Reyes Jr. said the militant umbrella group has filed a petition on the matter with the Quezon City regional trial court.
Earlier, Reyes said Bayan was denied a permit to hold the rally at Batasan Road in Quezon City on July 22.
Bayan and other militant groups are planning protest actions on SONA Day on July 22. Aquino is to deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress.
A report on dzBB radio said police will allow rallies along Commonwealth Avenue but not near the Batasan Complex, where Aquino will deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress. — BM, GMA News
