40 families affected in Quezon City fire
At least 40 families were affected in a fire that hit a residential area in Quezon City early Friday.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire, which destroyed 20 houses along Mapagbigay Street in Barangay Pinyahan, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported.
City fire marshal Superintendent Jesus Fernandez said at least 20 houses were razed in the fire, which reached the fourth alarm.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the fire reached the fourth alarm but was put out past 8 a.m.
Fernandez said their initial investigation showed the fire started at 41-C Mapagbigay Street, at the house of one Crystaline Gambay.
He said the damage to property was initially estimated at P600,000.
Arson investigators are still looking into what caused the fire, however. — LBG, GMA News
