Floods reach waist level in parts of NCR due to rain

Floods brought by heavy rain reached waist-high level in some parts of Metro Manila Sunday afternoon following hours of heavy rain.

In Quezon City, several areas reached knee level at around 5 p.m., radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported.

The report said the areas where floods were waist-high included Maria Clara Street corner Araneta Avenue and Del Monte west river side.

Sto. Domingo corner Calamba Street had knee-high floods, the report added.

Also in Quezon City, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Araneta Victory  was not passable to light vehicles as of 5:22 p.m.

In southern Metro Manila, Skyway said the flood at the southbound Alabang area was gutter-deep, with moderate to heavy traffic expected.

In Valenzuela City, floods at A. Fernando basketball court in Marulas reached 22 inches, rendering the area impassable to vehicles.

Other parts such as Marulas had 10-inch-high floods, making it "passable but risky" to light vehicles.

In Manila, the MMDA said Pedro Gil corner Taft Avenue was affected by knee-high floods. — LBG, GMA News
