MMDA: Classes in Metro Manila suspended Monday for INC medical mission


(Updated 8:56 p.m.) After the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday afternoon announced the suspension of classes in 12 cities and the municipality of Pateros on Monday, the Department of Education on Sunday evening issued an updated advisory stating that classes throughout Metro Manila will be suspended to ease the flow of traffic in anticipation of a wide-scale medical and dental mission to be conducted by the Iglesia ni Cristo in Manila.

According to the DepEd's 8:52 p.m. advisory, classes from preschool to high school in all private and public schools in the National Capital Region are suspended Monday:
  1. Manila (including college level)
  2. Malabon (including college level)
  3. Marikina (including college level)
  4. Quezon City
  5. Caloocan
  6. Pasig
  7. Pasay
  8. Makati
  9. Mandaluyong
  10. Taguig
  11. Parañaque
  12. Pateros
  13. San Juan
  14. Muntinlupa
  15. Valenzuela
  16. Navotas
  17. Las Piñas
Earlier, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada suspended classes up to the college level in Manila, where some two million people are expected to take part in the religious group's medical and dental mission.

The event will be undertaken simultaneously in five locations:
  • Plaza del Carmen (beside San Sebastian Church),
  • Plaza Avelino,
  • Magallanes Drive Ext. (facing post office),
  • Quinta Market (before "Quiapo ilalim"), and
