Two motorcycle-riding men were gunned down in an encounter with police in Quezon City before dawn Tuesday, shortly after they allegedly robbed a gas station.

Police had intercepted the two during a follow-up operation at a dark part of Balete Drive in Quezon City, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.

Recovered from the slain suspects was a caliber .38 revolver, the report said.

An initial investigation showed the two suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle held up a cashier at a gas station at Araneta Avenue.

They made off with the cashier's mobile phone and were intercepted after the cashier lodged a complaint with the police.

Instead of surrendering, the suspects allegedly fired at the police, who fired back.  — ELR, GMA News
