MMDA: No more free Pasig River ferry rides starting Friday
Starting Friday, there will be no more free rides on the new Pasig River ferry system, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the fares range from P30 for short trips to P50 for long trips, state-run Philippines News Agency reported.
The PNA said a tripartite committee composed of the MMDA, Department of Transportation and Communications and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission approved the fares.
Last April 28, the ferry service started operations and offered free rides while authorities fine-tuned the system.

The ferry system has five stations:
- Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City
- Guadalupe in Makati City
- Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)
- Escolta
- Plaza Mexico in Manila.
Trips from Pinagbuhatan to Guadalupe station, Guadalupe to Escolta, Guadalupe to Plaza Mexico and Guadalupe to PUP stations will cost P50.
Trips from Escolta to PUP station and Escolta to Plaza Mexico station will cost P30.
Meanwhile, Tolentino said the ferry service will operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily with eight ferry boats. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
