LTO catches 11 taxi drivers cheating passengers in NAIA operation
The Land Transportation Office on Saturday caught at least 11 taxi drivers cheating their passengers near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
LTO teams found the drivers engaging in the "kontrata" system, forcing passengers to agree to a predetermined fare, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
Cabbies who were caught in Saturday's operation were made to pay a fine of P1,700, the report said.
A separate dzBB report Saturday noon said the LTO warned the cabbies they would lose their licenses if they are caught again.
Saturday's operation covered the area at NAIA Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the Domestic Airport.
The LTO said the operation stemmed from complaints of passengers who arrive at the airport only to be forced to pay more than the ordinary fare. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
