As ‘ber months’ start, Manila  archdiocese seeks prayers for deliverance from calamities


As the ’ber months start, the Manila archdiocese called on the faithful to pray for deliverance from calamities in the last part of the year.

Caritas Manila, the archdiocese's social action arm, urged Filipino to "pray for deliverance from calamities."

The prayer was contained in a series of posts on Caritas Manila's T
witter account
. It thanked God for the wonders of creation and acknowledged people's sins against God and the rest of creation.

"We have not been good stewards of nature. We have confused Your command to subdue the earth," it said.

"The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference," it added.

It said global warming is now upon us while typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption, and other natural calamities occur in "increasing number and intensity."

"We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made," it said.

"We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those  in need," it added. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
