Did racing champion Enzo Pastor plan on killing Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman III but was beaten to the draw by the alleged mastermind in his murder?

This was the latest theory to emerge in the investigation of Pastor's fatal shooting after another alleged hired killer testified in a sworn statement that he was also tapped to kill the race car driver.

Alvin Nidua, who admitted to being a gun-for-hire for the last nine years, said a barangay chairman in Pasay City and a police officer tried to engage his services because "may pinagbantaan po kasi si Enzo Pastor na papataying tao kaya inunahan na siya nung tao."

Asked who Pastor allegedly wanted killed, Nidua said: "Si Sandy de Guzman po ng Parañaque."

Nidua accused De Guzman of being the mastermind of the Pastor killing.

"Siya (De Guzman) po ang utak talaga at nag-utos na patayin si Enzo Pastor, kasama sa plano na iyan (iyong barangay kapitan) at (ang pulis), tapos ako naman ang kinontak... para aktwal na pumatay kay Enzo," he said.

Nidua said he, the police officer, the village captain and De Guzman were in a restaurant in Bangkal, Makati when they plotted the murder

Nidua said De Guzman wanted to have Pastor killed because the racer allegedly wanted De Guzman killed after discovering his wife Dalia and De Guzman were having an affair.

Nidua said he ultimately begged off from the job of killing Pastor because he was only offered P200,000 when he was demanding P500,000. —NB, GMA News
