La Mesa Dam nears spilling level, residents along Tullahan River warned

Residents near the Tullahan River in Quezon City were advised Friday to take "extreme caution" as the La Mesa Dam neared spilling level past 8 a.m., amid heavy rain from Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong).
In an advisory, water concessionaire Manila Water said that as of 8:10 a.m., the dam's water level had reached 79.93 meters and is nearing the spilling level of 80.15 meters.

Heavy rain fell on Metro Manila and nearby provinces, with state weather agency PAGASA warning of flooding in low-lying areas.
Parts of Metro Manila were swamped with floods following heavy rain triggered by Mario and the southwest monsoon, prompting the suspension of classes and government work in the capital and nearby provinces, as well as the suspension of bank clearing and trading at the stock exchange. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
