(Updated 10:44 a.m.) Militants on Thursday picketed a mall in Quezon City over controversial shirts that suggested rape was a "snuggle with a struggle."

Some members of Gabriela Youth held their action in front of the SM City mall at North EDSA, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

There was brief tension as the picketers tried to enter the main building but security personnel stopped them from doing so.

Photos tweeted by dzBB's Juego showed the picketers bearing messages including "Rape is rape, no excuses" and "Our worth is independent of how 'hot' we are!"

Picketers said their action also sought to condemn apparel company Bench's recent fashion show that featured offensive gimmicks.

SM has since removed the shirts from its shelves, while Bench has apologized for the inappropriate portions of its fashion show. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
