Mall sale promos, payday cause heavy traffic on EDSA

Motorists and commuters passing through parts of Metro Manila may have to be more patient this weekend, due in part to heavy traffic caused by some malls' weekend sale promos.

On Friday, traffic slowed down near two malls in Mandaluyong City, due to weekend sale promos in the area, GMA News' Susan Enriquez reported on "24 Oras."

The report said traffic was very slow at the part of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Mandaluyong City.

Despite this, many shoppers continued to brave the traffic, as they were attracted to the prospect of buying items at big discounts.

Many of them said they wanted to buy items as Christmas gifts, noting the sale could offer as much as 70 percent discount.

For its part, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority deployed additional personnel to try to ease the traffic flow.

On the other hand, vendors took advantage of traffic jams to hawk their wares including bottled water and food. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
