The Department of Justice has filed criminal charges against the suspect in last month's killing of actress Cherry Pie Picache's mom.
In a five-page inquest resolution, Assistant State Prosecutor Ferdinand Fernandez ordered the filing in court of charges of robbery with homicide and qualified tresspass to dwelling against Michael Flores.
"After a thorough evaluation of the evidence submitted, there is reasonable ground to believe that respondent committed the crime of robbery with homicide against Zenaida Sison y Vidor and qualified trespass to the dwelling against Lilibeth Lato," said Fernandez.
Prosecutor General Claro Arelllano said the robbery with homicide case had already been filed with the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, while the trespass case was filed with the Sta. Rosa RTC.
Flores was charged for trespass after entering the house of Lato in Barangay Malusak in Santa Rosa City in Laguna without her knowledge and consent. Local police arrested the suspect while sitting on a chair in front of Lato's house.
Recovered from him were parts of the loot taken from the victim's residence.
A cross examination by Quezon City Police District revealed that the latent prints at the crime scene and the fingerprints of Flores "bore the same qualities and features," said Fernandez.
The suspect had been in hiding in Laguna since Picache's 75-year-old mother was found stabbed to death inside her house in Quezon City last September 19. — RSJ, GMA News
