Cherry Pie Picache: Suspect in mom’s slay pleads guilty

The suspect in the killing of the mother of actress Cherry Pie Picache pleaded guilty at his arraignment on Thursday.

Picache said this in a post on her social media accounts before noon Thursday.

"Praise God!!! (Michael) Flores pleads GUILTY in today's arraignment... Mama, you are thought of, missed and loved beyond words everyday," she said on her Instagram account.

She posted a similar message on her Twitter account.

Flores was arrested last Oct. 7 in Laguna.

He had been in hiding since Picache's mother, Zenaida Sison, 75, was found stabbed to death inside her house in Quezon City last Sept. 19.

Investigators had recovered a pair of shorts and a shirt believed worn by Flores at the time of the murder.

Also, investigators believed Flores had partners, based on statements from witnesses.

"May testigo nagsasabi ito nakaplano na," said NBI special investigator Joey Ajero.

Sison's killing was seen as part of a robbery as cash and jewelry were missing from the victim's home.

Two weeks before Flores pleaded guilty, Picache posted a photo of him on her Instagram account describing him as 29 years old and a native of Camotes Island in Cebu.

"Please share this among your network and help us find the criminals behind the violent crime against our mother. We will be grateful for any information that will lead us to justice. Thank you," she said at the time.  — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
