Pinoys visit tombs of celebrities, public figures at Undas
Filipinos on All Saints' Day – traditionally observed in the Philippines as All Souls' Day – paid respects not only to their departed relatives but also those of celebrities and public figures.
At the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City, many Filipinos visited the tombs of the late former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino.
The two are parents of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III.
Many Filipinos paid respect to the two, who are considered icons of democracy not only in the Philippines but also worldwide, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported.
A separate report by GMA News' JP Soriano on GMA News TV's "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" said Filipinos also visited the tombs of actor Rico Yan and screen villain Paquito Diaz.
Meanwhile, at the Pasay Public Cemetery, fans also went to the tomb of action legend Ernesto dela Cruz a.k.a. Weng-weng. The Pasay cemetery faces problems of congestion.
At the Libingan ng Mga Bayani in Taguig City, young Filipinos paid tribute to Boy Scouts as well as some 23,000 soldiers who served the country.
