Bulgarian national, Pinoy driver arrested for ATM skimming

A Bulgarian national and his Filipino driver were arrested in Pasay City Thursday night for allegedly trying to steal money from an automated teller machine using a card skimming device.

Officials of the bank, acting on an anonymous tip, caught the Bulgarian retrieving the skimming device in Pasay City, GMA News TV's "News TV Live" reported Friday.

While the Bulgarian initially identified as Dentsislav Hristov tried to flee, he and his Filipino driver Noel Dagdagan were arrested by a police patrol team.

Investigation showed the Bulgarian allegedly installed the device on the ATM to steal information from other ATM users' cards, allowing them to withdraw money using data from the compromised cards.

The two now face charges for violating the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998 and the E-commerce Law. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
