Condemning the assault on one of the agency's traffic constables, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino on Thursday said the motorist should be penalized for roughing up the enforcer identified as Jorbe Adriatico.

"We are trying to trace the ownership of the sports car without plate number and the name of the aggressive driver whose actuations should merit appropriate penalty and condemnation," Tolentino was quoted as saying on the MMDA Facebook account.

Earlier in the day, Adriatico was assaulted by the driver of a blue Maserati that was accosted for trying to make a left turn at the corner of Quezon and Araneta Avenues.

Adriatico suffered injuries to the face, including a fractured nose.

The blue sports car had no license plates.

He recalled he accosted the Maserati-driving motorist for trying to make a left turn.

He said the motorist then went straight but made a U-turn, went to Adriatico's post, and gave the enforcer the dirty finger.

"Lumapit ako, sir pakiulit ang dirty finger. Hinablot (niya ang) cell phone pati katawan ko. Hinarurot ang sasakyan, hawak niya ako, sinuntok ng tatlong beses," he said. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
