(Updated 10:40 a.m.) The Quirino Grandstand in Manila became a sea of humanity early Friday as devotees of the Black Nazarene started the yearly procession to Quiapo Church to mark the feast of their patron.

Friday's procession started past 8 a.m., after a delay of nearly two hours as devotees tried to get near the carriage bearing the image of the Black Nazarene.

Aerial photos taken by a drone of GMA News' Raffy Tima shows a sea of Catholic devotees flocking to the Quirino Grandstand to join the Traslacion for the Black Nazarene in Manila on Friday, January 9.

Another photo showed the devotees at the Quirino Grandstand and its surroundings, with the crowd extending to the Luneta area.
