LOOK: Workers conduct predawn repair work on MRT tracks

Workers before dawn Tuesday conducted repair work along a portion of the tracks of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) system.

 

A photo posted by Light Rail Transit Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera showed the crew at work between the Taft and Magallanes stations.

 

Cabrera said the photo was taken at 1:10 a.m., adding the work involved section rail replacement (pre-welding) activity.

The MRT had been experiencing several problems in past weeks, with glitches causing trains to suddenly stop.

 

Earlier, the MRT's administrators said they are considering shortening the MRT's weekend schedules to allow repairs to the system, including parts of the tracks.
