2-year-old girl killed by stray bullet in Pasig

A two-year-old girl was killed after being hit on the head by a stray bullet fired by a policeman in Pasig City Monday.

 

The policeman fired his weapon after his brother was shot by two armed men near their home, GMA News' Katrina Son reported on GMA News' Unang Hirit.

 

The incident started at 8 a.m., when PO2 Jason Cueto was helping his mother Leonila prepare dumplings they would sell.

 

An initial investigation showed two men approached the policeman and shot him. PO2 Cueto was rushed to the Rizal Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

 

Police are tracking down the suspects identified as Dumantog Buratong and "Itlog" of Magdalena Compound, who escaped after the shooting.

 

But an elder brother of Cueto, one PO3 Reynante Cueto, reportedly got emotional and fired his handgun.

 

"Medyo dala ng ... kanyang damdamin, medyo nagpaputok siya," said barangay executive officer Bobot Enriquez.

 

The elder Cueto reportedly fired five to six shots, after which a nearby resident sought help for the two-year-old child who was hit.
