Militants from Southern Luzon arrive at Welcome Rotonda for EDSA protest

Militants from Southern Luzon arrived at the boundary of Manila and Quezon City on Wednesday morning for protest actions in connection with the 29th anniversary of the EDSA-1 Revolution.

The militants called on President Benigno Aquino III, whose late mother Corazon became President after the 1986 revolt, to step down from office.

Photos tweeted by radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo showed the militants posing with placards that spelled "RESIGN AQUINO."

Others called for the prosecution of Aquino for the "Mamasapano Carnage," referring to the Jan. 25 clash in Mamasapano, Maguindanao that killed 44 Special Action Force troopers and 18 Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters.

They also condemned what they claimed was the meddling of the United States in Philippine affairs under Aquino.
