The parents of slain racing champ Enzo Pastor on Thursday appealed to his wife Dalia Guerrero-Pastor to finally face the music, now that a criminal case has been lodged against her for the June 12, 2014 killing of her husband.
Tomas and Remy Pastor made the call immediately after securing a copy of a Department of Justice resolution recommending the parricide indictment of Dalia on Thursday afternoon.
"We ask Dalia to surface and face the court at least for the sake of Enzo and their family and their children," Remy told reporters in Manila, as she and her husband welcomed the development which ended the Pastor family's almost seven-month wait for the case's resolution.
"I would like to comend the DOJ for attending to it (the complaint)," said Tomas for his part.
Enzo's parents said they would be leaving matters up to the Quezon City Regional Trial Court "to do their job properly and prosecute successfully those responsible for the incident."
Remy said they have yet to see the ashes of their son, which they said are being kept by Dalia.
Enzo's parents also decried the delay in a separate court battle for custody over Enzo and Dalia's two sons, who are currently under the guardianship of Dalia's parents.
Remy said they hoped the trial impending court trial would be fair and fast " so we can have guardianship bestowed on us and get the ashes of my sons."
"Pati iyong properties at business na nakatengga, hindi gumagalaw because of this case. Sana mabilisan na," Remy said.
As for Dalia's co-accused and alleged lover businessman Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman, Remy said she was "looking forward to the day that he will be behind bars."
Tomas, quoting earlier reports in the media, feared there is a "good chance" De Guzman might have already left the country as early as September last year.
Remy appealed to the public to be "vigilante in watching over this case (so) we'll find out why, if we want truth to prevail."
Enzo was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Quezon City on June 12 last year. At the time, Pastor was driving a truck and stopped at the corner of Visayas Avenue and Congressional Extension Avenue when a gunman approached and shot him.
Enzo was reportedly transporting a race car to Pampanga from Batangas when he stopped at a traffic light at 10 p.m. He succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head, neck and arms. Police recovered shells from a cal-.45 pistol from the crime scene.
Paolo Salazar, Enzo's companion who was hurt in the shooting, claimed Dalia kept on calling her husband, asking him to take the route where they were attacked. —NB, GMA News
