(Updated 2:20 p.m.) Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla was scheduled to undergo an operation at 2 p.m. Sunday for the gunshot wound he sustained in his upper right chest, his mother Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado Revilla said earlier in the day.
In a status message posted past 11 a.m. on her Facebook page, Rep. Revilla asked the public for prayers for her son because CT scan results show bleeding inside her son's chest.
“A tube will be inserted to drain the blood. His operation will be at 2 p.m. We need your prayers,” she added.
Revilla also posted a prayer of thanksgiving for Jolo’s safety and continued healing: “Salamat sa pagkaloob ninyong buhay sa kanya. Patuloy po ninyo syang alalayan at pagalingin. Iniaalay namin ang kanyang kalagayan sa Iyo.”
The lawmaker also thanked the people who continued to pray for her son and their family.
Lawyer Raymond Fortun, the Revillas' spokesperson, said Jolo accidentally pulled the trigger of the cal.-40 Glock pistol he was cleaning at their home in Ayala Alabang on Saturday morning.
Police have yet to obtain information on the incident, a day after Jolo supposedly shot himself by accident.
According to a GMA “News TV Live” report, Muntinlupa police personnel tried to enter the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City where Jolo was confined to gather more information about the incident, but security guards barred the cops.
Also, no family member came out to talk to authorities at the hospital, the report added.
As of posting time, police are holding a case conference to determine the next steps they will take after failing to obtain a spot report. — Xianne Arcangel/LBG/BM, GMA News
