At least 100 houses lost in Parañaque fire
A fire believed to have started from a stove that was left unsupervised razed at least 100 houses and affected at least 200 families in the Dela Rama Compound in BF Homes, Parañaque on Saturday.
GMA's "24 Oras" reported that an LPG tank owned by resident Jun Reyes may have caused the fire. , He said the incident was completely an accident.
"Wala na 'kong magagawa kung halimbawa, sa akin man o kahit kanino, anuman. Ito, hindi natin gusto," Reyes explained.
The Dela Rama Elementary School and Target 1 Covered Court were designated as staging areas for relief efforts for the affected families.
More than 100 homes and P1.5 million in property were reduced to ash by the time the fire was put out at 4 p.m.
However, mopping-up operations continued as small fires were still active during while the report aired.
"Yung general na ginawa natin, kaya nga yung nandun na naka-pwesto sa pinaka-malapit sa sunog 'yun na yung hindi na umaalis, binibigyan na lang ng tulong 'yung operation," explained Paranaque fire marshall C/Insp. Renato Capuz.
