MMDA constables to retrain at new Institute of Traffic Management
The Manila Metropolitan Development Authority's traffic enforcers will be retrained at the MMDA's newly opened Institute of Traffic Management (ITM) to correct the shortcomings in the enforcers' previous training.
Previously, according to a Monday report on GMA 7 news program “24 Oras”, MMDA traffic constables were former metro aides.
It was during the MMDA chairmanship of Bayani Fernando that enforcers were required to have a college level education. But even then, traffic management training only lasted a week.
This time, the retraining at the ITM will be three-months long.
Aside from MMDA's traffic constables, authorities are also looking into requiring local government traffic enforcers to undergo training at the ITM.
"Isabatas ang disiplina. Hindi mo pwedeng isabatas ang tamang pag-uugali sa lansangan. Meron ding pangangailangan na magkapare-pareho ang pananaw natin at regulasyon. Hindi lamang sa Metro Manila kung hindi sa ibang lugar," said MMDA chairman Atty. Francis Tolentino. — Trisha Macas/DVM, GMA News
